I have been an avid fan of the television show Shark Tank for many years. I find it incredibly fascinating to watch people create and then present their ideas to the sharks in an effort to obtain more financing.
Sometimes the show goes as planned and the people end up getting a deal they ask for, sometimes it does not.
In the case of Pinole Blue, a company out of Wichita Kansas that sells stone ground blue cornmeal products, they did not get the deal they had hoped for – but they got exposure to a national audience, including me!
Since I am a part-time Kansan, I find myself wanting to support local entrepreneurs and companies. So I took a leap of faith and purchased a 48 pack of their blue corn tortillas.
I was very pleasantly surprised by their incredible flavor, great texture and the fact that they have no additives or preservatives. I love the fact that it is vegan, non-gmo, organic and gluten free. It is a bonus that it is sourced from farmers in Mexico and made in Wichita Kansas USA. To be honest, I can’t believe the sharks passed on this company.
We have created dozens of tasty tacos and mini quesadillas with their product. I also purchased some of their original ‘organic roasted ground blue corn’. I actually used some of it in a couple of loaves of bread and it turned out fantastic.
This is definitely a company that I support! I encourage others to do so as well. They ship orders over $35 for free anywhere in the United States.
