So… funny story. Yesterday was my ‘rest’ day, but somehow I figured out a way to tweak my back. I noticed it when I got off the stationary bike. As the day went on, it got tighter and tighter. This morning when I got out of bed it was spasming pretty bad, can’t lie.
It was clearly a muscle thing and not a structural or bone issue. The old me would have sat around today, bitched about it, not exercised and used it as an excuse. Probably would have drank some beer about it later on in the day too.

The new me had Jeney put some topical lotion on it – and after about an hour I got in my home gym and worked out.
Today I got in 55 minutes of exercise, rode the bike for 35 minutes. I got in 8.6 miles. After the bike I did some more intensive bag work including punching, kicking and knees. I finished off with 3 sets of 10 of modified push-ups.
No excuses.
It’s one thing to actually be hurt. It’s another thing to use a little bit of a back spasm as a reason to not get after it. Each day I learn something new about myself, and try to make myself a better person. Today was a lesson in perseverance.
